The 2018 ascender chassis has a known defect in the air intake. For 2019 cat added 2 screws in the intake in order to pull the lower intake screens up tight and close the gap that was allowing snow to be sucked into the motor. To update the 2018 with the 2019 parts runs around 190.00. We developed a similar fix using your existing 2018 parts. Kit consists of two cnc cut and bent aluminum brackets with threaded inserts installed, and a set of templates for drilling through the top of the factory intake. Install requires a drill, 1/8'' and 3/16'' drill bits, a Phillips screwdriver, and we recommend a tube of silicone to make sure your 100% sealed up when your done. ( the updated 2019 parts should be siliconed as well, the 19 has no gap but is not factory sealed).

Must Have For 2018 Cats
This kit does exactly what it says - seals up the gaps that Cat left wide open. I will say, take your time marking and drilling. They’re a precise fit, but done correctly, does a great job of sealing up the intake. Even with the kit installed, you’re still going to want to use silicone to seal the edges. One tip, get all three screws started, THEN install the rear bolt (underneath) and tighten up all screws gradually. A+ product Mountain Fit. Thanks for the cheap solution to Cats poorly manufactured intake system! P.S. - Mountain Fit’s customer service is tough to surpass. First purchase from them and will be back in the future!
